Belly Fat
Belly fat is the best predictor of the rapid progression of clogged arteries than more evenly distributed fat. It can also affect blood-sugar metabolism and promote diabetes. When abdominal obesity and belly fat is combined with smoking or poor cardiorespiratory fitness, it boosts the chances of coronary events more than fivefold. Studies launched in 1960 concluded that pear-shaped women (bigger hips than waists) are less likely to suffer from heart disease and diabetes than are apple-shaped men. Stomach fat has since been poked and prodded to discover how men layer it on and how they take it off. Stress, anger, hostility, hormones, liver enzymes, insulin resistance, genes, postprandial triglyceride levels, declining growth-hormone levels and failed marriages have all been blamed for inflated spare tires aka belly fat.
